Confident Squarespace Website for a Keynote Speaker and Tech Strategist

High-contrast design for a speaker who translates AI research into plain language

J Scott Christianson, known professionally as Prof C, is a keynote speaker, business educator, and technology strategist. He spent over twenty years running his own technology company before moving into academia, where he directed the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Missouri. Today he speaks and consults full-time, helping leaders understand what AI and emerging technology are actually doing to their organizations.

He came to us needing a website that could carry three distinct offers at once: keynote speaking, workshops, and consulting on innovation programs.

A Visual Identity Built on Contrast

The design runs on a tight three-color system: a saturated highlighter yellow, near-black, and a warm cream. No soft edges, no decorative flourishes, nothing that dilutes the contrast. We used a condensed uppercase display font for headlines to achieve an editorial print effect.

The signature device is the highlighter. Key phrases throughout the site are marked in yellow, exactly the way you'd mark a passage in a textbook. It's a small idea that does an enormous amount of work: it reinforces his core promise to follow the research, it creates a consistent visual rhythm across every page, and it gives the reader an instant, scannable path through long-form copy.

Dotted patterns and photo cutouts add texture without softening the contrast.

Three Offers, One Clear Structure

The homepage introduces Scott, establishes credibility through a speaker reel and a row of logos of recognizable organizations. Later, it resolves into a section called Three Ways to Work With Me: keynotes and talks, workshops, and consulting and special projects. A conference organizer, a corporate learning lead, and a university looking to build an innovation program all arrive with different questions, and each finds a path built for them within one scroll of the homepage.

Pages Built to Convert

The Speaking page works by answering objections before they're raised. It names the event organizer's actual fear – hiring someone unfitting – then proves the alternative with testimonials, a speaker reel, and a What to Expect grid covering everything from the pre-event discovery call to the concrete takeaways an audience leaves with.

Consulting page leads with proof rather than description: Scott has built and run entrepreneurship programs across several continents, including one currently running in Nukus, Uzbekistan, where students take a raw idea through to a funded pitch. A "We Are the Right Fit If" list qualifies leads honestly, and a PLAN, BUILD, LAUNCH sequence compresses the engagement into three panels. Both pages have the same CTA: book a twenty-minute call.

The Story and the Credentials

The About page opens with the line that reframes everything, that Prof C spent over twenty years running a technology business before he ever stood in front of a classroom. That single fact separates him from academics who theorize and consultants who sell. Below the long version of that story sits a press section with a downloadable bio, headshots, and a media kit, the kind of thing people who book speakers regularly know to look for.

The full academic record lives on its own page: publications, grants, awards, certifications, and career history, with downloadable reports alongside. Keeping it separate was deliberate. It is there for the university, the conference committee, and the journalist verifying credentials, not for the corporate organizer who wants to know whether their audience will stay awake.

The Outcome

What Scott has now is a site that reads as confident rather than promotional, distinctive enough to remember after a single visit, and structured so that three different kinds of buyers can each find their path. Everything points at one action, and every page earns its way there.
