Love Letter Pets
This new design, Love Letter Pets, strikes a beautiful balance between a high-end editorial magazine and a warm, personal blog. It feels sophisticated yet approachable – perfect for lifestyle creators who want their content to look polished without losing that cozy, personal touch.
Our client Mairi from Australia purchased the Modernist Squarespace template from our shop and chose our setup service to bring her idea to life. Love Letter Pets is a lifestyle publication, with plans to expand into digital products and a membership area for pet owners in the future.
“One of the things that attracted me to the Modernist template was how clean, fresh, and bright the site felt,” Mairi shared while we were working on her moodboard. The direction came together quickly – we kept a crisp white background and introduced soft blue and red accents for contrast and personality.
The design leans into a minimalist editorial aesthetic. With plenty of whitespace and a structured, newspaper-inspired layout, the site gives space for high-quality imagery to lead the story.
On the homepage, we mixed different grid styles – from large, immersive hero sections to more compact sidebar areas and featured post rows. This keeps the scrolling experience dynamic while still feeling organized. The homepage also acts as a master category archive, and the mix of post layouts (like list view and masonry grid) shows how flexible the template can be for different types of content.
Typography plays a big role here, too. A refined serif for headings – including the Love Letter Pets logo and article titles – adds a soft, literary feel, while a clean sans-serif for body text keeps everything easy to read.
To ground the overall design, we used a dark, high-contrast footer with a clear newsletter signup and well-structured navigation, helping both user flow and SEO.
Overall, this website feels like a place where editorial polish meets the warmth of a personal letter.
