Sharp Squarespace Website for a LEGO Gift Guide

BrickTreat

Paweł Uciekałek is a civil engineer, LEGO collector, and the person behind BrickTreat — a gift guide blog helping people who know nothing about bricks find the right LEGO set for someone they care about. He built his website using our Squarespace Template Modernist, and customized it into a focused content hub.

The Modernist template ships with a bold yellow accent — used for CTA buttons, header backgrounds, and the newsletter subscribe button — against a white and near-black base. BrickTreat keeps that yellow almost exactly as-is, which makes it one of the closer palette matches in our showcase collection. What changes is the content: instead of fashion photography and lifestyle imagery, the visuals are crisp product shots of LEGO sets styled as home decor — flowers on shelves, botanical sets beside books, bouquets on wooden tables.

The result is a site that feels immediately familiar to anyone who knows the Modernist template, while looking nothing like a lifestyle blog. Same bones, completely different subject.

Most gift guide sites try to cover everything. BrickTreat covers one thing — LEGO gifts — and organizes it with a level of specificity that makes it genuinely useful. The navigation splits content into Gift Guides (organized by recipient and occasion) and Gift Tips (practical knowledge like how to replace missing bricks or whether you can rebuild a set). The topic links in the footer let visitors filter by For Her, For Him, Interests, Hobby, Milestones, Holidays, and Christmas.

This is the Modernist template's category and topic structure put to exactly the use it was designed for — helping a reader find what they're looking for without having to scroll through everything.

Paweł's About page opens with the problem BrickTreat solves — buying a LEGO set for someone else is harder than it should be — before explaining who he is and why his opinion is worth trusting. He's been collecting since 1990, designs his own models under the alias uPawelek, and entered the LEGO Ideas program where his Rocky Reef Restoration design collected 10,000 public votes in 40 days. He also converted his wife into a fellow collector.

The Modernist template's alternating image-and-text about page layout gives this story room to develop across three sections without feeling like a resume.

The homepage features a prominent quiz section — "Which Gift Will They Actually Enjoy? Find Out in Under 5 Minutes" — placed just below the featured post. It's a smart entry point for the site's primary visitor: someone who arrived via a Google search for LEGO gifts and has no idea where to start. Rather than making them browse, the quiz routes them directly to the right recommendation.

It's a use of the Modernist template's full-width callout section that goes beyond decoration — it's doing actual conversion work.

BrickTreat is a strong example of how the Modernist template can work for blogs on absolutely different topics.
