Three Ways to Create “Photos” with AI

...and why you should play with it but not take it too seriously – yet.

AI photos are immensely fun. When I first discovered them, my obsession led me to create dozens of fake photos of myself. It was amazing to see myself 10 years younger and 20 pounds lighter. I’ll be open here: I, like many women, have some insecurities about my appearance. Spending hours looking at these perfect images, I became upset with my real-life looks and had a nervous breakdown. It was time to return to reality.

Still, I believe AI photos are enjoyable to experiment with. They can even be used in marketing, but it's important to avoid misleading your audience into thinking these are real images. Here are three methods for creating AI photos:

The Remini App

This AI images generator is a blast! Remini lets you create an avatar from various real photos and selfies, then apply it to pre-made scenes like yearbook photos, horse rides, and Santa Claus costumes. The downside is that everyone's photos will look similar, just with different faces. The Remini app excels at capturing the face accurately, provided you use high-quality images.

The best feature of Remini is its ability to transform your non-professional iPhone shots into ones that appear professionally shot. The AI image editor is finely tuned! Any selfie becomes Instagram-ready in minutes, looking absolutely stunning. Here’s proof.

Photoai.com

This AI image simulator is one of the most powerful apps available! Initially, you train the model by uploading several images. Then, you can input reference photos you wish to recreate. The results are impressive, but there's more! You can remove parts of the image you dislike and prompt the app to alter them.

Midjourney

Even though MJ is one of the coolest artificial intelligence photo generators out there, it is unpredictable, so results vary greatly. But here’s a technique I used: Feed your image to MidJourney and include the person's name in the prompt. MJ associates characters with names, much like its ability to reproduce images of famous individuals. Repeat this process multiple times until you get a photo resembling what you need, then press the heart icon to signal your approval to Midjourney. If you do this 10-15 times, you'll train MJ to associate your name with a specific look. This might take a while, but patience is key. This is what I able to achieve with MJ.

In my opinion, the best approach is to use PhotoAI in conjunction with MidJourney. This combination allows you to generate countless custom scenes and backgrounds and replace the face with your own.

Are these methods reliable for creating a fake “photo shoot” for a client? Absolutely not. I wouldn’t recommend it. You can't predict how another person might react to such images or how they might affect their insecurities (recall my meltdown). Additionally, the ethical implications are questionable. Authenticity is crucial in successful marketing, and AI photos just don't suffice. Use them to fuel your creativity, but nothing tops a real photoshoot!

AI is a fantastic tool for creating abstract graphics, illustrations, and still-life images. You can even generate characters, but the more you try to make them look realistic and pass them off as real, the deeper you'll fall into the perfectionism rabbit hole.

One key lesson I've learned from using AI as a designer is to embrace imperfection and spontaneity. There’s beauty in the randomness of the results!

Create your AI clone to record Instagram reels

Did you know that it's possible to create a digital version of yourself for Instagram reels and stories? Sounds a bit eerie, right?

There's this useful platform called Heygen.com, where you can generate unlimited videos with either real or AI-generated voiceovers. The trick is to start with a high-quality video of yourself for the system to work with.

Creating your digital twin only takes about 10 minutes, and the results are quite impressive! If you're not a fan of the automated voice, you can always opt for your voiceover by using text to speech feature.

Take a look at my AI counterpart on Instagram reels! It's a bizarre yet fascinating experience.

2023 has been the year of generative AI. I don’t know about you, but I’m captivated by it. In 2024, 2025, and 2026, AI is set to become even more ubiquitous, reshaping the internet as we know it. We'll see brands and fictional entities entirely managed by AI. This shift is impacting numerous creative fields, including design.

As a designer, I am committed to constantly seeking and embracing new knowledge.

Alan Toffler once said, “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.“

I’ve been integrating AI into my design process for over a year now, and I can't imagine working without it!

How to create websites in seconds with AI

As I am a web designer, the most exciting part of this blog post for me is this one. I've come across two incredible tools that let you create websites almost instantly!

First is the AI website builder Relume Library. It’s a treasure trove of reusable components for the Webflow website builder. Kick things off with an AI that crafts a detailed sitemap and descriptions for each section of your pages. Once your sitemap is set, you can whip up complete black and white pages with bespoke copy and import your prototype into Figma. There’s even the option to tweak text section by section before finalizing your prototype.

What you get is a finely tuned Figma file with a sleek b/w design and ready-made styles. This seriously streamlines the prototyping process, turning hours into minutes, or even seconds!

This design can seamlessly transition into Webflow. If you're using another builder, no worries! You'll have a stylish Figma design to customize with colors, images, and more.

The Figma library with Relume? Think of it as a cheeseburger, but with layers and components galore. See Relume AI in action in the video below.

I would have been drooling for such a tool a few years back (and I'm quite thrilled now, to be honest!).

But wait, there's more!

Introducing Framer.io – a drag-and-drop website builder (kind of like Showit) that churns out ready-to-publish websites in a flash, complete with copy, visuals, and colors for desktop, tablet, and mobile.

The results are basic, yet, it's a great starting point for those keen on cutting down manual setup time.

Plus, Framer works with Figma files. You can feed it a file, and voilà, it becomes a webpage.

Someone once said, "The future is here, it's just unevenly distributed." These tools might not be widely used yet, but they’re paving the way for the future of web design.

Do these tools demand technical skill and a learning curve? Absolutely. Can everyone master them? Not exactly. That's where the opportunity lies for you and me!

It's time to start learning, experimenting, and shaping your future!
